Device Technologies: Myah for dry eye, myopia and now special CLs

The focus of the Device Technologies stand was the new Myah system from Topcon, a management tool for eyecare professionals interested in building, managing and growing their myopia and dry eye services.

“Myah incorporates corneal topography, including keratoconus screening and pupillometry, axial length measurements and a comprehensive suite of dry eye assessment tools,” explained Device’s Diego Sonderegger. “You can track progression over time and then analyse for treatment efficacy. It’s all-in-one and it’s very easy to use.” Added to that, and newly unveiled at CCLSNZ, was the added benefit that practitioners can now order speciality contact lenses (CLs) directly through Myah as it now incorporates the Eyespace CL-design software suite, managed by Corneal Lens Corporation. “You don’t have to move the patient to other equipment, this can now do it all,” said Sonderegger.

Though he couldn’t show the technology at the CCLSNZ conference in Wellington, he hoped to show it at a smaller demonstration the next day. “I’m just using my online devices and tools to show videos and background material, but it’s not the same. We can’t give people the hands-on experience they prefer, so we are happy to show it to people individually when the Covid restrictions lift.”
