A new addition to the annual exhibitor line-up, medical recruitment company Mercury and its resourcing sister company, Sequre, were on-hand at the RANZCO NZ conference to talk to doctors and nurses about locum, part-time or permanent medical positions in New Zealand.

Managing director Vinod Govind said Mercury offers doctors and nurses flexible opportunities to work after hours, during weekends or as it fits around their current roster. “We have seen 16,000 patients in the last two years and helped relieve some of the pressure on the DHBs.”

By bringing in extra staff temporarily we can increase the ophthalmology capacity of local hospitals, he said. “Bringing experienced specialists and teams to hold clinics and conduct surgery after hours and on weekends is more cost-effective than outsourcing. So, our insourcing service means treating patients faster, closer to home.”
