'Optometrist' is the most Googled science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) role worldwide, scoring more than 600,000 searches per month.  

RS Components, an electronic component company, mapped the most popular STEM job queries in every country and ‘optometrist’ was the most popular role searched for in several countries including New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands and South Africa.  

To compile the data, RS Components used Google’s keyword planner to determine the average monthly search volume for each country for nearly 100 STEM jobs using two search terms (eg.”data analyst” and “data analyst job”).
