Vision giants join forces

Essilor Luxottica and Cooper Companies, two of the world’s largest vision care companies, have formed a 50/50 joint venture to acquire lens innovator Sight Glass Vision, which is developing innovative spectacle lenses to reduce myopia progression in children.  

“We are excited to join forces with Cooper Companies, a company with a strong track-record in addressing major vision conditions, including myopia, and leverage together the Sight Glass Vision technology,” said Francesco Milleri, Essilor Luxottica CEO.  

Through this partnership, the two companies will expand innovation opportunities and go-to-market capabilities to grow the myopia control category, they said in a joint statement. Sight Glass Vision’s technology will complement both companies’ existing solutions, including Essilor’s Stellest lens and Cooper Vision’s MiSight and orthokeratology contact lenses, they said.
