Zeiss’s scalable and flexible ophthalmic data management solution Forum, in combination with its latest suite of surgical and diagnostic products, now provides a fully integrated solution for any ophthalmologist in any discipline, said Zeiss product specialist Lahiru Gunasena. “The focus for this year’s RANZCO NZ meeting was making data work for you, to make your life easier, reduce patient chair time and completely digitise all data for better efficiency and confidence when making clinical decisions.”
Encompassing Zeiss devices such as its next-generation OCT, the Cirrus 6000, which can scan a patient’s eye in as little as 0.4 seconds; the Clarus 700, a comprehensive ultra-widefield retinal camera with true colour and fluorescein angiography; and EQ Workplace, which streamlines refractive cataract data accessed remotely from the Zeiss IOLMaster 700 and other DICOM-compatible diagnostic devices, Zeiss’ technology platform now realises a goal the company has been heading towards for several years, said Gunasena. “Forum streamlines practice workflow, integrating seamlessly with existing IT and any DICOM compliant diagnostic instruments, while unique workplace applications for retina, glaucoma and cataract patients allows you to assess the information you need at a glance. The intuitive viewing software lets you review, compare and analyse all historical diagnostic data from various instruments to give you everything you need to make confident and efficient diagnostic assessments whilst using the platform to educate patients too.”
Complementing Forum’s software upgrades, the Zeiss IOL Master 700 now measures central topography, he said. “It is integrated into the standard biometry measurement, without the need of any additional hardware or measurement time. So the IOL Master 700 will now utilise its swept-source OCT technology to measure anterior and posterior curvature giving you total keratometry, for improved IOL calculations and planning.”
Getting everything into one screen was basically Zeiss’ goal, said Gunasena. “It’s about efficiency and sustainability. It’s about future proofing!”
