Optom insurance scheme switches up

CMI Optical and new insurance partner, Clarity Insurance Brokers, have signed up more than 100 optometry practices to the new optometry practice-focused OptiSure scheme.

Confirming the milestone, Clarity director Chris Bull said the transition to Clarity from Crombie Lockwood was driven by members’ feedback, seeking a personalised and more client-centric approach. Despite the changeover, the OptiSure product remains the same, with rates unchanged since 2021, despite significant increases across the rest of the sector, he said. The Clarity enrolment process is very straightforward, said Bull. “We have an online application form which takes about five minutes to complete. The information provided regarding the relevant risks of running an optometry practice, along with easy-to-understand insurance solutions, makes for a seamless process.”

Practices interested in knowing more can request a quote, he said, adding an Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand arrangement allows practices to switch before their current policy expires without financial penalty if the quote is better.
