Gen 8 in Amber

Transitions Optical has released its next generation lens, Transitions Signature Gen 8, a darker lens with quicker activation and fading.

“The breakthrough of Transitions Signature Gen 8 lens technology is we’ve improved both speed and darkness, without any compromise, through a fully reinvented photochromic system, including a reinvented matrix and photochromic dyes,” said Transitions general manager Stuart Cannon.

Transitions developed the Gen 8 lens after five years of research, involving 4,000 eyecare professionals and 76,000 wearers. Cannon said the research revealed wearers want a complete and balanced photochromic lens with a faster fade back, without compromising lens darkness.

The Gen 8 lens fades back up to three minutes faster and activates 30% faster. It offers 100% UV protection, filters blue light from devices, screens and LED lights and is available in seven colours.
