Specsavers has welcomed 214 new graduates in its most recent recruitment cycle, with the majority commencing their optometry careers in clinics across Australia (189) and New Zealand (25).
The newly minted optoms were officially welcomed at Specsavers’ annual graduate induction event held 16–17 February at the Crown Conference Centre in Melbourne.
Across the two days, graduates participated in a series of small group-workshops facilitated by Specsavers specialists, covering topics including professional communication, therapeutic confidence, professional billing, product knowledge and graduate wellbeing.
Dr Natasha Fernandes, Specsavers head of graduate development ANZ, said the induction event continues to be a highlight of the company’s graduate programme. “Our graduate induction really focusses on providing our graduates with the tools and support for the best possible start to their careers,” she said. “It’s an incredible experience for our graduates – being surrounded by [about] 200 peers at the same stage of their professional journeys – building networks, confidence and a shared sense of purpose.”
