The New Zealand Optical Wholesalers Association (NZOWA) has officially wound up and donated its remaining funds to 10 charities nominated by its members.
The recipients are: Blind and Low Vision NZ Guide Dogs ($14,386.82), The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ ($11,865.66), Blind and Low Vision NZ ($8,583.92), Macular Degeneration New Zealand ($8,330.40), Glaucoma New Zealand ($6,309.25), New Zealand Eye Bank Trust ($5,555.71), New Zealand Optometric Vision Research Foundation ($5,302.19), Association of Blind Citizens of New Zealand ($4,034.57), Foureyes Foundation ($3,534.56) and The Visual Impairment Charitable Trust Aotearoa (NZ) ($2,520.46).
“Donating to these worthy charities selected by our members is a happy and fitting closing of NZOWA,” said former president Gary Edgar, who has been acting NZOWA caretaker since 2019.
